Do It Just Because of God

A lot of people have done good to people for the sole reason that they will get paid rewarded by those people. It’s an attitude of expectation that have failed in a million and one times. Nobody can help or assist you if God does not move them to do so. With this in mind, let us Do it just because of God. Once this attitude is cultivated, though not easy, you see things flow easily for you and you get over getting offended and disappointed when people fail you.

Jeremiah 17:5,7-8. 5 Thus saith the LORD; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the LORD. 7 Blessed is the man that trusteth in the LORD, and whose hope the LORD is. 8 For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters, and that spreadeth out her roots by the river, and shall not see when heat cometh, but her leaf shall be green; and shall not be careful in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit. KJV

John 2:24-25. 24 But Jesus did not commit himself unto them, because he knew all men, 25 And needed not that any should testify of man: for he knew what was in man. KJV

Psalm 40:4. Blessed is that man that maketh the LORD his trust, and respecteth not the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies. KJV

Proverbs 16:3. Commit thy works unto the LORD, and thy thoughts shall be established. KJV

Psalm 20:7. Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the LORD our God. KJV

Matthew 6:26. Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they? KJV

Micah 7:5. Trust ye not in a friend, put ye not confidence in a guide: keep the doors of thy mouth from her that lieth in thy bosom. KJV

Colossians 3:23. And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men. KJV

You can see from the above verses of the Bible that man will surely fail you. But God will not, and can not. Do good to people and forget you did it. The reward will surely come. But it surely may not be from the direction you’re expecting it to come from.

If you take a look at the story recorded of David and Mephibosheth in 2 Samuel 9:7 {God caused} David to remember his late friend, Jonathan’s lame son, Mephibosheth. Even though it was against the law to bring him to the palace, he was even made to dine with the king on the king’s table. But what did king David receive in return? Check out same 2 Samuel 16:3. He joined forces with those that wanted king David dead.

People will disappoint you. Whatever you do for people, do it because of God.
