United Bank for Africa (UBA) marked its 75th anniversary with a grand unveiling of a Time Capsule and a Tribe Photo Wall, symbolizing decades of innovation, growth, and dedication. The event took place at UBA’s head office in Lagos, as part of a series of celebrations highlighting the bank’s contributions over the past 75 years.
The Time Capsule, filled with historical artifacts from the bank’s journey since its founding in 1949, serves as a tribute to the institution’s legacy.
The idea is to preserve these objects for future generations, providing a glimpse into UBA’s evolution from a small office in Lagos to a global banking giant. With its reach now spanning 24 countries across Africa, as well as key cities like London, Paris, and New York, UBA continues to expand its influence.
At the event, Oliver Alawuba, UBA’s Group Managing Director, emphasized that the bank’s future is tied to its innovative spirit.
He outlined bold ambitions for the next 25 years, including increasing its revenue base from $20 billion to an ambitious $20 trillion, and expanding its presence to 100 countries globally.
The unveiling of the Tribe Photo Wall was another highlight. This wall honors the contributions of UBA’s staff, past and present, showcasing their role in shaping the bank’s success.
The visual display celebrates the diversity and collective effort of employees who have been pivotal in transforming UBA into a leader in African banking.
This event underscores UBA’s commitment to connecting Africa to the world and highlights the bank’s vision for an even more prominent global presence in the coming decades.
